Owner: This runway and apron reconstruction project is an example of the growing recognition of the benefits of concrete for use in general aviation airports for long life and low maintenance. This airport will effectively serve the high performance aircraft users at Kindred, including the all-important foreign object damage (FOD) benefits of concrete. That, combined with the high visibility surface, will make this airport a true pilot's friend. Compliments to the airport owners and engineer for providing a concrete alternate bid, when, in fact, the concrete option was competitive on first cost. Look to other GA airports to demand concrete surfaces to effectively serve all levels of non-commercial type aircraft and enhance economic development efforts for their respective rural communities.
