Owner: This facility fills a major void in the recreation options the Park District offers to the citizens of Fargo. It is the culmination of efforts provided by planning committees for layout and location, and engineers for design and construction. Using steel fibers, the engineer was able to meet reinforcement needs of the intricate surface with ease. Using shotcrete and much hand finishing, the contractor was able to meet extremely tight tolerances for a consistent reveal at the coping pipes on bowl tops. While fighting warm weather, the contractor met the stringent surface finish requirements for the ultra smooth concrete, despite the changes in grade, radii and transitions. While looking like a statue at the unique dike side location, this project will stand as a monument to the ultimate in concrete flatwork design and process.
