2008 Precast Category

U-Motors - Fergus Falls

“Total Precast” just about describes this handsome automobile sales center. Except for the entry way, precast concrete provides the structure for both the walls and the roof. Precast was the material of choice for economics, ease of construction and rapid completion. The need for wide open spaces fit the precast model perfectly. The embedment of the insulation layer between the precast wall panel wyths provided a wonderful exterior finish and a durable and efficient interior finish. Using many decorative concrete tools to attain the exterior finish, the Architect was able to economically provide a unique finish which fit nicely into the surrounding neighborhood. The exterior concrete was colored throughout with integral color. Using retarders applied to the finished surface on the casting bed, paste could be washed from the surface to expose the aggregate. As an economically efficient change of appearance, sandblasting was used to vary the color and texture for a banding effect in each wall.

The concrete walls provide the perfect solution to the aggressive environment of the shop area. The light colored walls and ceilings optimize the distribution of interior lighting, providing a soft but efficient lighting environment for display and service work. Interior surfaces will be especially durable from impact or abrasion due to the strength of the concrete. And the benefits of strength, sound proofing, mold proofing, and security provide meaningful complements to this retail and service environment.

Congratulations to a great design and construction team. Your project will serve your client in a most efficient and effect manner.
